In the small city of Sikeston, Missouri, a transaction set to take place on November 13, 2023, turned fatal, ending the life of 40-year-old Anthony Paul Evans. A male resident of Sikeston, Evans had arranged to sell marijuana to a 19-year-old named Deserian Easton. This encounter, however, would tragically be his last.
According to accounts from witnesses, the exchange was meant to be for a quantity of marijuana valued at eight hundred dollars.
Easton initially left the scene, stating he needed to get the cash for the purchase. Upon his return, the situation took a violent and deadly turn. Instead of producing money, Easton allegedly grabbed the bag of drugs and pulled out a firearm.
With chilling swiftness, Easton is accused of shooting Anthony Evans in the back of the head, a single act of violence that claimed his life. In the aftermath, Easton fled the scene, leaving behind a grim tableau for authorities to discover. The Southeast Missouri Major Case Squad was activated to spearhead the homicide investigation.
The investigation quickly led to Deserian Easton, who was subsequently arrested and is now facing a litany of serious charges. He has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery, and armed criminal action for his alleged role in the death of Anthony Paul Evans. Following his arrest, Easton was booked into the Scott County Jail, where he is being held without bond as he awaits legal proceedings.
