Kelton Dukes, a 24-year-old Black male from the 300 block of Atwater Drive in St. Louis, Missouri, was fatally injured during an early morning incident the day after Christmas in 2023. At approximately 5:57 a.m. on December 26, authorities received a call for service regarding a shooting in the City of Riverview. Officers rushed to the 10000 block of Sheldon Drive, where they discovered Dukes suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency responders quickly transported him to a
nearby hospital for life-saving treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The Riverview Police Department subsequently requested that the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons assume responsibility for the homicide investigation.
Law enforcement officials reported that a suspect was taken into custody at the scene by responding officers. Following the arrest, the case was forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review regarding potential criminal charges. While the investigation remained active, police did not immediately release the name of the individual detained or further specific details surrounding the circumstances that led to the shooting.
