On February 2, 2024, a violent sequence of events unfolded at the STL On The Rocks Bar and Grill in Overland, St. Louis County, Missouri, resulting in the death of Rashad D. Redd. The disturbance reportedly began as a physical altercation inside the establishment, prompting security personnel to intervene and force the involved parties outside. However, the conflict did not dissipate upon exiting the venue; instead, it escalated into a shootout in the parking lot area.
During the
exchange of gunfire, Rashad Redd was struck and sustained fatal injuries. Emergency responders transported him and another individual to a local hospital for treatment, but Redd was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Investigators who processed the scene discovered shell casings from multiple firearms, indicating that more than one weapon had been discharged during the melee.
Police subsequently identified and arrested suspects in connection with the homicide. Melvin Fraction, a resident of St. Louis, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Court documents alleged that surveillance footage captured Fraction firing a gun multiple times during the incident. Following the initial arrest, authorities announced that a second St. Louis man had also been charged for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting, continuing the legal pursuit of those responsible for the male victim's death.
