On March 2, 2024, law enforcement officials in Ralls County, Missouri, were summoned to a residence on Willow Lane near the Mark Twain Lake area following reports of a firearms incident. Upon arrival at the scene in Monroe City, deputies discovered 60-year-old Gregory Dell Van Pelt suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the chest. Despite emergency medical efforts administered at the location, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
