In the late summer evening of August 26, 2024, the bustling Long Branch train station in New Jersey became the scene of a tragedy that claimed the life of James Hailey. A 43-year-old man from Newark, Hailey was on the platform at approximately 7:30 p.m. when he was fatally shot. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
