On August 26, 2024, James Hailey, a 43-year-old resident of Newark, was fatally shot on the platform of the NJ TRANSIT Long Branch Station in Long Branch, New Jersey. The incident occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m., when officers from the Long Branch Police Department responded to reports of a shooting victim.
