On January 1, 2023, 19-year-old Tyler Heywood was fatally shot during a New Year's Eve party in the 7800 block of Guinea Road in Hayes, Virginia. The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting around 1:05 a.m., discovering Heywood deceased at the scene and another man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
