In the summer of 2016, a 26-year-old former college football player named Jamarion Robinson was killed in a hail of gunfire inside his girlfriend's East Point, Georgia, apartment. Robinson, a Black male who had played at Clark Atlanta University and Tuskegee University, had no prior criminal convictions. His family has been vocal that he was living with mental illness.
