On March 22, 2023, 69-year-old Patricia Garverick and her husband, 75-year-old Richard Garverick, both residents of Herndon, Virginia, were found deceased on a trail near Stratton Woods Park in Reston. A passerby discovered the couple around 3 p.m. and alerted authorities. Upon arrival, Fairfax County Police officers found both individuals with apparent gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
