In the early hours of July 9, 2023, the life of 20-year-old Nyjeon Damerae Brandon, a Black male from Martinsville, Virginia, was tragically cut short. He was a passenger in a vehicle traveling along the 300 block of Commonwealth Boulevard West, in the vicinity of the Chopstix restaurant, when he was struck by gunfire.
