On May 15, 2024, an 18-year-old man named Michael Alcantara from Manassas, Virginia, was fatally shot in Centreville during an incident that authorities have described as drug-related. The shooting took place around 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Centre Lee Business Park along Route 29, a location that includes a Dunkin’ Donuts and is adjacent to a Sunoco gas station.
