In the quiet town of Hurt, Virginia, a Saturday afternoon was shattered by violence that ended the life of 58-year-old Paul Glass Jr. On October 19, 2024, deputies from the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence on Delta Drive around 4 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim, later identified as Glass, in the front yard suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported Glass
to Sovah Health in Gretna, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the shooting began immediately, with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office and the Commonwealth's Attorney working in conjunction. The focus of their investigation was concentrated on the immediate area of the crime scene.
A suspect in the shooting was identified and detained at the scene of the incident.
