In a tragic domestic incident on January 29, 2023, in Lexington, South Carolina, 23-year-old Jasmine Alyse Bailey, a White female, was killed. The violence unfolded around 12:30 p.m. at a residence on Bliss Lane in the Red Bank area.
Authorities responding to the scene discovered that Jasmine and her mother, 48-year-old Chastity Lynne Busick, had both been fatally shot multiple times.
The person responsible for their deaths was Chastity's husband and Jasmine's stepfather, 55-year-old William Peter Busick. After shooting his wife and stepdaughter, William Busick turned the gun on himself, sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A minor child was also present in the home at the time of the shootings but was found unharmed. The relationship of the child to those involved was not publicly disclosed. Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon stated that it was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation involved speaking with family and neighbors to understand the circumstances that led to the murder-suicide. The case was closed following the determination of the events, with William Peter Busick being the sole suspect, who died by suicide.
