On January 17, 2016, Herbert "Buster" Perkinson, 49, was kidnapped from his home in Emerson, Georgia, and later found shot on the side of Interstate 75 near Exit 277 in Cherokee County. Perkinson was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead shortly after. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) labeled the case an unsolved homicide and has requested any tips that might lead to the arrest of those responsible for the abduction and killing.
