Stephens. The young Black man from North Charleston was attending the gathering near Storage Road and Church Hill Road on May 29, 2023, when gunfire erupted.
Investigators later determined that over 100 rounds were discharged from at least 13 different firearms, including rifles, shotguns, and pistols, creating a terrifying environment for all present.
As bullets flew indiscriminately through the large crowd, Stephens sought refuge inside a vehicle. Tragically, he was struck by a gunshot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. In the aftermath of the shooting, five other individuals were discovered to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were subsequently transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
