In the quiet community north of Santee, South Carolina, a heated dispute on a Tuesday afternoon tragically escalated, ending the life of 27-year-old Deonne Shyhme Johnson. On June 27, 2023, events unfolded at a residence on Hampshire Court that would lead to a fatal confrontation.
According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, an argument broke out involving Johnson and the wife of Hercules Felder.
In a statement to investigators, Felder, 63, claimed that he intervened in the altercation between his wife and Johnson. This intervention took a fatal turn when Felder retrieved a firearm.
Johnson sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the incident. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office later confirmed the cause of death.
Following an investigation into the deadly shooting, authorities arrested Hercules Felder. He has since been charged with the murder of Deonne Shyhme Johnson. The case is now set to proceed through the legal system to determine the full circumstances of that fateful afternoon.
