On August 7, 2023, 48-year-old James McCreary was fatally shot in Denmark, South Carolina. Responding to reports of a shooting at a residence on Cardinal Road, Bamberg County Sheriff Kenny Bamberg and two deputies discovered McCreary's body around 3:45 p.m. An autopsy was scheduled for later that week to determine the exact cause of death.
