In the late afternoon of September 12, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Jamiree Datravious Tray McCrorey was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Blackstock, South Carolina. The incident, which shattered the peace of the small community, occurred near Old Winnsboro Road and Tanglewood Road in the Great Falls area of Chester County.
Authorities responding to the scene discovered McCrorey, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation that followed pointed to a dispute that escalated into deadly violence. Family members remember McCrorey, known affectionately as 'Tray,' as a good person, and his sudden death left them in shock and grappling with an immense loss.
The Chester County Sheriff's Office quickly identified 25-year-old Zykerrion Jamal White as the suspect in the shooting. At the time of the incident, White was already facing other serious charges, including attempted murder in neighboring Lancaster County, and was out on bond. He was also wearing an electronic monitoring device, which he managed to remove shortly after the shooting, sparking a manhunt.
Considered armed and dangerous, a search for White was launched, and he was apprehended by law enforcement. He was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the death of Jamiree McCrorey. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Chester County Detention Center.
