Champion, a male, was discovered with gunshot wounds on the shoulder of the Truman Parkway near Montgomery Cross Road. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving a family to grapple with unanswered questions and a community to mourn a life cut short.
At the time of his death, Champion was
a father to a three-year-old daughter. His family described the immense pain of him going on a trip with friends and never returning home. In the years following his death, they have continued to seek justice and closure. Savannah Police detectives have stated that they do not believe there is a connection between the Orange Crush event and the shooting.
