In a chilling text message to a friend, she expressed grave fear for her life, writing, 'If you don't hear from me in 30 minutes, he killed me.' She was referring to her 28-year-old boyfriend, Jarrett Haskell Davis. Her friend contacted law enforcement the next day after not hearing from her. When deputies conducted a welfare check at the couple's home, they found the couple's 4-month-old baby unharmed, but Megan was nowhere to be found. Davis was present at the residence and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
A desperate search for Megan ensued, involving her family, friends, and law enforcement. The search came to a grim conclusion on April 30, 2024, when authorities discovered a burned-out vehicle on a dirt road in Bamberg County.
