On a spring evening, 21-year-old Jai'Shaun Young, a male from Gastonia, North Carolina, was visiting a home on Galilean Road in York, South Carolina, when his life was tragically cut short. It was May 4, 2024, and Young, along with some friends, had gone to the residence to visit with girls they had connected with through social media. While Young was on the back porch, gunfire suddenly erupted. He was struck and died at the scene, marking the first homicide in the city of York since 2022.
