In the late hours of a Thursday in Seabrook, South Carolina, the quiet of Martin Lane was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Inside his home, 26-year-old Trevon Malik Watson, a Black male, was struck by a single gunshot. First responders arrived at the scene shortly after 11 p.m. on May 23, 2024, to find him deceased. Though others were present in the residence at the time of the shooting, Watson was the only individual harmed.
The investigation by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office
suggests that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
