In the early morning hours of Thursday, August 8, 2024, amidst the wind and rain of a tropical storm, the life of 42-year-old Martin Karl Reiff, Jr. was tragically cut short. A male resident of Patrick, South Carolina, he was an unsuspecting passenger in a vehicle traveling down Cane Mill Crossing Road in Chesterfield County. It was there, at approximately 4:30 a.m., that the car was met with gunfire.
The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident was not a random
act of violence, but rather the result of an ongoing dispute. The alleged shooter, Damion Crowley, had been feuding with two other individuals and, upon seeing their vehicle, opened fire. Tragically, it was Reiff, an innocent party in the car, who was struck and killed in the assault. No one else was reported to have been injured in the shooting.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials quickly identified a suspect. Damion Crowley was taken into custody by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office and has since been charged with murder in connection with the death of Martin Karl Reiff, Jr.
