On September 18, 2024, 14-year-old Jakari NyJurel Doctor was fatally shot at the Liberty Street Apartments in Johnsonville, South Carolina. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, also injuring a woman in her 20s who is expected to recover. Jakari, a student in the Florence 5 School District, was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
