On March 3, 2023, 28-year-old Shantel Jermicia Jeme Augustine, also known as Shantel Augustine Toro, was found dead in Moss Point, Mississippi. Her death was attributed to gun violence.
Prior to her death, Augustine had been identified as one of three suspects involved in a home invasion in Gautier, Mississippi. The incident had drawn significant attention from local law enforcement.
