In the spring of 2023, Abdulhafeed Altareb, a 33-year-old father of five, was looking forward to a new chapter in his life, with plans to move his family from Jackson, Mississippi, back to New York. Tragically, these dreams were cut short on the night of May 30th. Altareb, a former employee of the Texaco gas station on Northside Drive, was at the station when gunfire erupted. He was struck by multiple bullets and died at the scene.
