On June 7, 2023, the Bolivar County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a body submerged beneath the Alligator-Rena Laura Road bridge in Alligator, Mississippi. Deputies arrived to find the body of 71-year-old Willie C. Christian, a resident of Marks, Mississippi, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
