On a summer evening in Pattison, Mississippi, the life of 29-year-old Bryan Keith Eggleston, Jr. was tragically cut short. The Black male was seated in a vehicle near a gas pump at the Pattison Mini Mart on June 18, 2023, when the fatal incident unfolded. He was a resident of Pattison.
Surveillance footage from the scene was pivotal in the investigation, revealing a blue Chevrolet Tahoe arriving at the gas station.
A man, later identified as 34-year-old Antonio Nicholas, was seen exiting the vehicle and firing multiple rounds at Eggleston. In the immediate aftermath, Eggleston was privately transported to the Claiborne County Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead upon his arrival.
The Claiborne County Sheriff's Department quickly identified Antonio Nicholas as the primary suspect in the shooting. He was apprehended and subsequently charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. During his initial court appearance, Nicholas was denied bond, and the case was bound over to the next grand jury for further legal proceedings.
Funeral services for Bryan Keith Eggleston, Jr. were held on July 3, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Hermanville, Mississippi. He is survived by his parents, Bryan K. Eggleston Sr. and Katina Devine Eggleston, as well as his children, siblings, and grandparents.
