On a Sunday evening in Canton, Mississippi, a verbal dispute between neighbors on Boyd Street escalated into a violent encounter that left one man dead and his son critically injured. The deceased was identified as Derrick Mack, a 46-year-old Black male, who was fatally shot on January 7, 2024. His 25-year-old son, Quindarius Mack, was also wounded in the altercation.
