In the early hours of a Wednesday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the life of 29-year-old Josie Windham was tragically cut short. On April 17, 2024, the white female was discovered unresponsive on a sidewalk in the 2300 block of West 7th Street, near an apartment complex. Responding authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
The Hattiesburg Police Department's investigation quickly revealed that Windham had been shot. As detectives delved into the circumstances surrounding her death, their focus soon turned to a person of interest. The investigation determined that the incident was domestic in nature.
Within a short time, an arrest was made in connection with the killing. Julio Cesar Pineda, 42, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with one count of 1st Degree Murder. Following his arrest, Pineda was booked into the Forrest County Detention Center as the investigation into Windham's death continued.
