In the quiet town of Hernando, Mississippi, a tragic event unfolded on an early Sunday morning in August, shattering the peace of a neighborhood and leaving a community in mourning. On August 4, 2024, police responded to a 911 call reporting the sound of multiple gunshots on Mason Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, 51-year-old Kelley Denise Cincurak, was found shot on the back patio of the residence.
Emergency medical personnel provided immediate aid to Cincurak before she was airlifted to Regional One Hospital in Memphis in extremely critical condition. Despite the efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away on August 5, 2024. Inside the home, officers found two other deceased individuals. Mary Janice Ray, 78, was found fatally shot in the breakfast room where she had been watching television.
The third individual, 71-year-old Rickie Thomas Ray, was discovered in the master bedroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Two firearms were also found in the room with him. Investigators have characterized the incident as a murder-suicide, with Rickie Thomas Ray as the suspected perpetrator. The evidence collected from the scene was sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for further analysis as law enforcement continued to investigate the details surrounding the tragic event. The Hernando Police Department expressed their condolences to the families and friends of those affected by the incident.
