In the small town of Webb, Mississippi, the evening of November 7, 2024, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When the echoes faded, a 33-year-old Black man named Kenderrick Gaston lay dead. A resident of nearby Tutwiler, Gaston was found near the corner of East Main and North Cree streets with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to his upper torso.
The Tallahatchie County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Webb Police Department, along with the Tallahatchie County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, descended on the quiet street to piece together the events of that fatal night. Investigators recovered eight 7.62x39mm shell casings from the street, a caliber commonly associated with certain semi-automatic rifles. A projectile was also recovered from a nearby building, a silent testament to the violence that had transpired.
Despite the evidence collected, the investigation into Kenderrick Gaston's death has yet to yield a suspect or a motive. Law enforcement officials have made a public plea for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward.
