On August 3, 2023, Amber Jo Thomas, a 40-year-old woman from Lenawee County, Michigan, was fatally shot in a parking lot in Saline. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the UAW Local 892 building, where police responded to reports of an active shooter. Thomas was shot alongside a 55-year-old man who sustained injuries but survived and was reported to be in stable condition.
