In the late hours of a Saturday night in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the life of 32-year-old Shondale Devon Kellumn, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On November 9, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., gunfire erupted in the parking lot of a local business near the intersection of Portage Street and Washington Avenue. When the violence ceased, Kellumn had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Another man, a 33-year-old resident of Kalamazoo, was also struck by the gunfire but his injuries were not life-threatening, and he was later released from the hospital.
Emergency services were quick to respond, and Kellumn was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
