A Saturday evening at a popular family entertainment center in Timonium, Maryland, turned tragic, leaving a 32-year-old man, Marcus R. Whitehead, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on August 12, 2023, inside the Sky Zone Trampoline Park on West Aylesbury Road, a place typically filled with the sounds of children playing.
The shooting allegedly stemmed from a domestic dispute. Quinton Walker, a 30-year-old man from Colorado, had traveled to Maryland for a pre-arranged visit with his daughter at the trampoline park. Also present were his ex-wife and her boyfriend, Marcus Whitehead. According to charging documents, Walker told police that he felt Whitehead was staring at him, which led to a verbal confrontation. Walker claimed that Whitehead threatened to slap him and then began walking towards him. In response, Walker stated that he drew his firearm and fired all the rounds he had loaded.
After the shooting, Walker fled the scene. However, he later called 911 to turn himself in. Police were able to track his location through his phone and arrested him in Anne Arundel County about an hour after the incident. He was reportedly found in a U-Haul truck, which he told investigators he had wanted to return before surrendering. Whitehead was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a few hours later.
Quinton Walker was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond. Authorities have described the shooting as an isolated incident and have assured the public that there is no further threat to the community. The case has proceeded to the legal system, with Walker's next court date scheduled for the following month.
