In the early morning hours of October 24, 2024, the life of 30-year-old Artez Antonio Collins, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. At approximately 3:08 a.m., Baltimore Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East 20th Street after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, they found Collins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported Collins to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save
his life, but he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The cause of his death was determined to be a shooting. The incident was one of 165 homicides in Baltimore as of October 28, 2024.
As of now, the investigation into the death of Artez Collins remains active, with homicide detectives leading the inquiry. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting, and no arrests have been made. Baltimore Police have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to contact detectives or to provide anonymous tips through the Metro Crime Stoppers hotline. A visitation and funeral service were held to honor his memory.
