In the early hours of December 18, 2023, the life of 24-year-old Marcell Hendrix, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in a double homicide in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The shooting also claimed the life of 26-year-old Joevon Wilder. Both men were known in the local rap scene, with Hendrix performing under the name "Celly Cell" and Wilder as "Jigg".
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. near 20th and Locust.
According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, Hendrix was pronounced dead inside a vehicle at the scene at 12:55 a.m. Wilder was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Friends and family remembered both men as talented and rising figures in Milwaukee's rap community.
As of late 2023, Milwaukee police were actively investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. No arrests had been made in connection with the deaths of Hendrix and Wilder, and authorities continued to seek unknown suspects. Law enforcement officials have encouraged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Milwaukee Police Department or to provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
