Matthew Vincent Locastro, a 27-year-old male, tragically lost his life on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Miami, Oklahoma. His death resulted from a gunshot wound sustained during an altercation. The incident unfolded near Second Avenue NE and H Street, where an argument between multiple individuals escalated.
Following an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement, a suspect was identified as 34-year-old Travis Christian Wilbur.
In late January 2024, Wilbur was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Locastro's death. He was subsequently booked into the Craig County Jail.
During later court proceedings, conflicting accounts of the event emerged. Testimony suggested there was a struggle over a firearm between Locastro and Wilbur, which resulted in the fatal shot. Wilbur's defense attorney argued that his client acted in self-defense, claiming that Locastro had entered a garage and initiated an assault with an object that was a gun. After a 'Stand Your Ground' hearing, a judge dismissed the murder charge against Travis Christian Wilbur.
