In the early morning hours of February 20, 2024, a fatal encounter unfolded in a room at the Days Inn located at 8217 S. I-35 Service Road in Oklahoma City. Responding to a shooting call at approximately 5:24 AM, police officers discovered the body of 44-year-old Anthony Porter, a Black male, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. His death was quickly classified as the city's eighth homicide of the year.
