Sheena Pierre, aged 21, was killed in a targeted shooting on January 8, 2007, in Miami, Florida. She was one of three victims in a brazen ambush that took place in broad daylight in the Little Haiti neighborhood. The incident occurred while she was riding in an SUV driven by Monique Jean, who was also carrying her son, Enel Jean. The vehicle was attacked by gunmen in what Miami homicide detectives have attributed to an ongoing feud between Haitian street gangs.
The ambush began after the group left a courthouse where Monique Jean had attended her son's hearing related to a drug charge. As they traveled towards their home, a white Volvo cut off their SUV while a white Lincoln blocked them from behind. Gunmen emerged from these vehicles and opened fire, killing both Enel Jean and Sheena Pierre instantly. Monique Jean, who was critically injured, remained in a coma for weeks before eventually succumbing to her injuries in February 2007.
Detectives have linked the attack to gang violence, which has led to a surge in homicides in North Miami-Dade during that period. Enel Jean was reportedly a suspect in another homicide, which may have been a factor in this retaliatory strike. Despite the brutal nature of the crime and the involvement of multiple vehicles and gunmen, the case remains unsolved, with authorities still searching for any leads that could bring the perpetrators to justice.
