On November 6, 2023, Kamden Wilson, a U.S. Navy veteran, died in Woodland, Washington. His death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The events leading to this tragic incident involved personal turmoil and the discovery of an extramarital affair.
Leading up to his death, Kamden Wilson had learned of an affair between his wife, Nicole Wilson, who was a volunteer firefighter, and the Cowlitz-Skamania Fire District 7 Chief, Keith Stuart.
Though the couple had discussed divorce, they had decided to try and work on their relationship. However, on the day of his death, Kamden sent his wife a text message saying he 'can't go on without her,' which prompted her to call 911.
Nicole Wilson was not at their home at the time and asked Stuart to check on her husband. It was Stuart who found Kamden Wilson deceased in a bathtub from a gunshot wound to the head with a pistol in his hand. Following the incident, Fire Chief Keith Stuart was terminated from his position due to his relationship with a subordinate. There have been no arrests or suspects identified in relation to the death, as the authorities determined it to be a suicide.
