In the quiet early hours of a Tuesday morning in Spokane, Washington, the life of 68-year-old Timothy Bradburn came to a violent end. On June 25, 2024, shortly before 1 a.m., police received a startling 911 call from a woman who calmly stated she had just shot her father at their home on North Cochran Street. The caller was his daughter, 31-year-old Alyssa M. Bradburn.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found Alyssa waiting for them on the front porch.
Inside the home, they discovered Timothy Bradburn deceased. The Spokane County Medical Examiner would later confirm that he had died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide. Investigators learned that Timothy had just returned home in an Uber from a trip to Hawaii when he was shot in the chest and head.
Alyssa Bradburn was taken into custody at the scene and charged with first-degree murder. During questioning and in court documents, a troubled family history began to emerge. Alyssa told investigators that she had been planning to kill her father for weeks, even documenting her intentions in a journal which she told police contained her confession. She alleged a long history of abuse, claiming her father had raped her as a child and would frequently beat both her and her dogs.

On the morning of the shooting, she said she took precautions to protect her dogs from the noise of the gunshots by placing them in a back room and wearing earplugs herself. She told officers she was okay with going to jail, stating, "It's the result. I killed someone, so you go to jail for that." A judge set her bond at $1 million, citing public safety concerns and her mental health history. In a subsequent court appearance, she initially pleaded guilty, though her attorney later altered her plea.
