On August 12, 2023, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Akron police responded to a residence in the 2200 block of 8th Street Southwest, where they found 45-year-old Veronica Bell lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries on August 15.
