On August 12, 2023, 43-year-old Donavan Lee Sampson of Dayton, Ohio, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. The event occurred in the early hours of the morning, at approximately 3:23 a.m., when Dayton police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 2000 block of Leo Street.
According to the caller, Sampson had been socializing and drinking with two other men, including 62-year-old Michael David Krieger Sr., in Krieger's living room.
The situation took a deadly turn when Krieger allegedly left the room briefly and returned with a gun. He then approached Sampson, placed the gun against his chest, and fired a single shot.
Emergency services transported Sampson to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Krieger was also taken to the hospital for jaw surgery, though the circumstances surrounding his injury were not explicitly detailed in the reports.
