On August 30, 2023, in Akron, Ohio, 20-year-old Jaedin Ellis was found on the porch of a residence in the 200 block of Cole Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. Another victim, 32-year-old Rickie Brooks, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center.
