On October 28, 2023, at approximately 1:19 a.m., East Cleveland police responded to reports of a shooting in the 15200 block of Elderwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 44-year-old Damein Daun'te Cook lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered aid until emergency medical services arrived and transported Cook to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.
