In the early hours of June 22, 2024, 16-year-old Jackie L. Jackson III was fatally shot near The Banks in Cincinnati, Ohio. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Marian Spencer Way. First responders transported him to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to a woman at the scene, identified as Jackson's mother, the shooting stemmed from a disagreement over a bottle of water at a nearby corner store.
The Cincinnati Police Department is actively investigating the case and has urged anyone with information to contact their Homicide Unit.
Jackson's death marks a profound loss for his family, particularly his grandfather, Pastor Jackie Jackson, a prominent anti-violence advocate in Cincinnati. Tragically, Jackie III is the 10th family member Pastor Jackson has lost to gun violence in the past decade.
