On June 30, 2024, Robert Dean Lewis, a 67-year-old resident of McDermott, Ohio, was fatally shot in what authorities are investigating as a homicide. The incident occurred early in the morning at a residence on Euton Road. Emergency responders arrived shortly after a neighbor reported hearing gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Lewis lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Following the shooting, law enforcement quickly identified and arrested Holly Euton-McGhee, a 60-year-old woman who is believed to be Lewis's girlfriend. She was taken into custody after calling 911 and admitting to the shooting. Euton-McGhee has since been charged with aggravated murder, felonious assault, and obstructing official business. Sheriff David Thoroughman indicated that the investigation is ongoing, suggesting that additional charges could be forthcoming as more details emerge.
