On July 28, 2024, 15-year-old Mendrell Lavell Johnson Jr., affectionately known as MJ, was fatally shot at a Shell gas station located at the intersection of East 140th Street and Rugby Road in Cleveland, Ohio. He was transported to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
