On October 8, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., a shooting occurred near the 5300 block of Free Pike in Trotwood, Ohio, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Justin Semaj Lee Askew of Dayton. Following the incident, two victims, including Askew, sought help at nearby gas stations. They first arrived at the Shell gas station at 4046 Free Pike and then proceeded to the Sunoco gas station at 3900 Salem Avenue.
