On February 11, 2023, a trip to a Circle K gas station in Albuquerque, New Mexico, turned fatal for 24-year-old Michael Urioste, a Hispanic male. That Saturday afternoon, at the intersection of Juan Tabo and Lomas Boulevards, Urioste witnessed a man, later identified as 58-year-old Eric Ford, in a volatile confrontation with a female clerk. Ford was reportedly causing a scene, and when the clerk asked him to leave the premises multiple times, he responded by punching her.
